The mercurial Argentine is said to be considering letting his contract run down and ending a long association with the Catalan giants.

The rumor mills have been non-stop ever since Lionel Messi publicized his intention of quitting FC Barcelona last summer.

Messi’s decision, which later he reversed, was understood to be a product of Barca’s failure to compete in the Champions League and any lack of ambition for improvement by the board.

Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Inter Milan have all been involved in the transfer saga linking him with a move away from Camp Nou at the end of the season.

Inter Miami have also been mentioned a few times with reports stating that David Beckham, the president and co-owner of the franchise, wants to do the unspeakable and bring the living legend to the MLS.

MLS has gained much popularity in the past few years with the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, David Villa, Ricardo Kaka, and Andrea Pirlo spending a few years in the American league.

“I’ve always said that I’d like to experience the United States’ league,” Messi told in an exclusive interview with La Sexta.

“But that’s not for now. I’m not thinking about how the season will end. It wouldn’t be good for me to say today what I’m going to do, and I don’t know either. I don’t know if I’m going to leave or not. But if I go I want to leave in the best way.

“I’d like to return to live in this city and work at the club. Barcelona are much bigger than any player. I hope the president who comes in will do things well.”
