The Red Devils hope to build on their impressive win over Liverpool.

Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag has confirmed Anthony Martial will miss his side’s upcoming match against Southampton.

The 26-year-old came off the bench to provide an assist for Marcus Rashford in United’s 2-1 win over Liverpool last weekend.

However, an Achilles injury has prevented Martial from preparing for his side’s next league game.

“You will see tomorrow. I will tell the team first. Anthony Martial is not fit,” Ten Hag said when asked about United’s team news.

“Casemiro is fit, he did all the training sessions. He [Martial] came out with a problem with his Achilles. I hope he will be available for the next game.”

Martial’s injury will most likely provide a chance for Anthony Elanga to start alongside Rashford and Jadon Sancho in Man Utd’s attacking line.

In midfield, Casemiro looks to make his Man Utd debut at St. Mary’s. The Brazil international will most likely form a trio with Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes, helping United with his impressive pressing abilities.

Following their win over Liverpool, Ten Hag’s side sit 14th on the league table. Let’s see if they can climb higher on the table by snatching their first away win of the season this weekend.
