Manchester United chiefs are set to hold crunch talks with Edinson Cavani regarding his future at the club.

Manchester United will hold talks with Edinson Cavani ahead of his prospective summer exit.

The Uruguayan will see his one-year deal with the Red Devils expire at the end of the season.

It comes after signing a short-term contract with United on deadline day last year, following his release from Paris Saint-Germain.

There is speculation that Cavani is keen on returning to South America and Boca Juniors are a potential destination.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to keep hold of the 34-year-old for another season after a number of fine performances, even though he has been limited to a number of bench appearances.

Cavani has six goals from 18 Premier League matches but his experience has been invaluable. He has particularly proven to be influential to the likes of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood.

According to the Daily Mail, United chiefs Ed Woodward and John Murtough are set to sit down with the striker and his representatives.

The idea of the meeting is to convince the veteran star that he should stay at Old Trafford for another year.

However, it remains to be seen whether Cavani will stay for much longer, particularly after a recent scathing review from his father Luis.
