After Flick’s shock announcement, Matthaus has given his verdict on who will become the next Bayern Munich manager.
RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann is the man Lothar Matthaus expects to replace Hansi Flick at Bayern Munich.
Despite being under contract until 2023, Flick plans to leave his post in the summer. The 56-year-old confirmed his wish on Saturday after Bayern’s 3-2 win over Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

It comes amid rumors that have linked Flick as Joachim Low’s successor as head coach of the German national team.
Now Matthaus, who does expect Flick to replace Low, has tipped Nagelsmann to take charge at the Allianz Arena and for RB Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch to replace the 33-year-old at Leipzig.
“My opinion is: Flick to the DFB, Nagelsmann to Bayern, and Jesse Marsch to Leipzig,” the Bayern Munich legend told Sky.
He added: “Of course, Bayern didn’t speak to Julian Nagelsmann directly, but started the conversation with Julian Nagelsmann’s side and I’m still standing by that today.
“I am convinced that Julian Nagelsmann will succeed Hansi Flick. He wants to take the next step.”
Nagelsmann, however, has stated he has held no talks with Bayern over the manager’s role.
