The Reds legend admits his former side have spent a rough campaign.

Jamie Carragher has chosen Liverpool’s 7-0 win over Manchester United as his favourite game of the season.

The Red Devils were on an 11-game winning streak when they travelled to Anfield on March 5.

The hosts went ahead 2-0 with late goals in the first period. However, an incredible attacking display from Jurgen Klopp’s men in the second half saw United suffer their joint-heaviest defeat in history.

Liverpool’s season has been underwhelming at best. But Carragher believes that game will stay in the football fans’ minds for a while.

“I don’t even think it was the game, I think it was the selfie I took in the commentary box,” Carragher told Sky Sports of his famouts selfie with Gary Neville during the match.

“It’s been a poor season for Liverpool, you can’t deny that, but that game will still be getting talked about in 10 or 20 years’ time – there is no doubt about it.

“To beat your rivals 7-0 is laughable, isn’t it? 7-0, what was going on? And we didn’t even play that well!”

Liverpool are three points behind fourth-placed Man Utd ahead of the league’s final matchday this weekend. The Reds will take on Southampton at St Mary’s Stadium while Ten Hag’s side host Chelsea.
