Ahead of Liverpool’s Wednesday trip to Newcastle, Jurgen Klopp offered the latest injury update on Thiago Alcantara and when he could play.

Thiago Alcantara’s return from his injury has been a blessing for Jurgen Klopp and a Liverpool side that’s been harshly hit with injuries. The current season has been a terrible year for them in that regard but they are still managing to remain at the top of the league. Despite their resilience, Klopp will always welcome the return of key players like Thiago Alcantara but he won’t risk him too soon.

In fact, the German manager is trying to take his return to the pitch as relaxed as possible so he doesn’t have any more problems. Even though he is showing a lot of promise during practice, Thiago won’t feature on Wednesday’s trip to Newcastle. Klopp just offered an update and confirmed his return is still a few days away.

Thiago’s return to activity is still unknown.

In a press conference picked up by Goal, Klopp offered the latest update on Thiago Alcantara: “Thiago has trained in part with the team so far, but on Friday, he trained the full session,” he told reporters. “But it was a reduced session so we couldn’t do that [full session]. He just has to be part of team training [regularly].

“It’s not about being part of team training one day and then you can play football in the Premier League. So it looks quite promising at the moment but I cannot say more about it, to be honest. I don’t know. I think the plan was that if he trains [on Monday] completely normally then we will see.”
