Jurgen Klopp was full of praise and declared his long-term admiration for Diogo Jota after he made an impactful start to life at Liverpool.

Diogo Jota was on target when Liverpool made it three wins out of three in the new Premier League campaign by beating Arsenal 3-1.

The Portuguese winger came off the bench to replace Sadio Mane in the final ten minutes of the match and got on the scoresheet just eight minutes later to put the game beyond doubt for his side.

Monday’s outing was the former Wolves man’s first league match for the Reds, having signed for them for a reported €45 million only this month. He had already made his debut midweek in the Carabao Cup clash against Lincoln City.

Jota managed to make a significant impact in his short time on the pitch against Arsenal, and Jurgen Klopp was proud of his new acquisition.

“I’m really pleased for Diogo Jota. Top, top guy,” Klopp told the BBC after the full-time whistle at Anfield.

“It’s so difficult to improve a team like ours. He’s been on my list for two or three years, he’s here now.

“I’m completely happy with our performance. We played good football, we were flexible – we mixed it up. We did it and deserved the three points.”
