CR7 looked completely unlike himself on Tuesday night as he, instead of dragging them out of trouble, made matters worse for his side.

Fabio Capello insists there is “no excuse” for Cristiano Ronaldo’s blunder that led to Porto’s second goal against Juventus in the Champions League last-16 second-leg tie.

Federico Chiesa scored a second-half brace after Sergio Oliveira had opened the scoring from the penalty spot to force the match into extra-time.

Juventus fans were filled with hope as the team then needed only one goal against 10-man Porto to turn the tie around.

However, the dramatic night ended in a disappointing fashion for the hosts as Oliveira stuck again via a free-kick in the final five minutes. The match ended 3-2, 4-4 on aggregate, and Porto progressed to the next stage on away goals.

Ronaldo was seen turning his back on Oliveira’s shot. Had he not turned, the shot could have been saved and Juventus would not have been dumped out of the Champions League.

“Cristiano Ronaldo can’t do that in a wall,” said Capello on Sky Sport Italia. “Whoever is in a wall should be aware that they might get hit and not be afraid of the ball.

“But he turned around and this is an unforgivable mistake for which there is no excuse.”

Capello added: “You see only the youngest players actually stepped in and showed their face during the tough moments. In this team, there are some veterans who turn up when they win to take the credit, then are nowhere to be seen when they lose.”
