Despite an all-round impressive victory over local rivals Tottenham, a Granit Xhaka injury left Arsenal with some genuine cause for concern.
Seeing Granit Xhaka limp out of Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Tottenham in the north London derby left Mikel Arteta ‘pretty worried’.
Xhaka made his first appearance in almost a month on Sunday after serving a suspension from a red card in the 5-0 loss to Manchester City in August. He looked a little off the pace but still played well on the ball.
However, moments after Son Heung-min scored a 79th-minute consolation goal for Spurs, Xhaka was injured. Lucas Moura fell on the midfielder following a Thomas Partey tackle. The medics helped him off the pitch after lengthy treatment.
There are concerns Xhaka could have ligament damage, although a worried Arteta didn’t disclose any details.

“Unfortunately, he [Xhaka] got [an] injury and I’m pretty worried because it doesn’t look very positive at the moment,” said the Gunners boss in a post-match conference at the Emirates Stadium.
Emile Smith-Rowe, Aubameyang, and Bukayo Saka were on target for Arsenal to seal a memorable win on Sunday.
Arteta’s men return to action this Saturday away to Brighton for their next Premier League match.
