After several weeks of waiting for a response from him, Iker Casillas finally responded with sass to Leo Messi’s Budweiser unique gift.

Out of all the goalkeepers who got Leo Messi’s Budweiser bottles, Iker Casillas is amongst the ones who got the most. Diego Alves was first place but Iker was a close second with 17 goals allowed from Messi throughout his career. During their times in the Spanish La Liga, El Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona became one of the most important sporting events in the world.

Casillas was at the bitter end of it with several sour evenings against the Argentine. It’s obvious he would take a long time to respond to this level of humiliation, he wasn’t going to be a good sport like Gianluigi Buffon. Just to give you an example… When Iker responded to this “gift”, he wanted to make sure he did it with as much sass as possible. He decided to remind Messi that after a specific game they played against each other, Leo never scored another goal against him.

Which game is Casillas talking about?

The game in question is a La Liga match from October 2012. During that evening at Camp Nou Stadium, Leo scored his goals 264 and 265. Cristiano Ronaldo responded with another brace for a final 202 result. After that, Iker remained at Real Madrid until 2015 and he never received another goal from the Argentine. Iker gladly reminded this to Messi as a way to defend himself from all the public embarrassment. Keep in mind that goalkeepers have a delicate ego when you talk about the goals they allowed throughout their careers.

This is what Iker wrote on all his social media platforms: “I thought they would never get here” But here’s my Budweiser personalized bottle. Congratulations Leo Messi for your record with the 644th goal. I remember when you scored the goals 264 and 265… A good match that was, good draw as well. But the best part was that you never scored against me again. All my respect to a great rival and let us all toast for the amazing matches we played during all those years.”
