Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola provided an update on Sergio Aguero’s health status after he tested positive for Covid-19.

It has been almost two weeks since Sergio Aguero announced he was infected with Covid-19 after close contact with a positive case. As fans have been eagerly awaiting an update on the striker’s current condition, Pep Guardiola made a statement that will sprout mixed feelings amongst City supporters.

“Everyone is fine except Nathan [Ake] and Sergio needs time,” the City boss disclosed. “When one guy suffers COVID he needs weeks to feel better or ready. He is still not training on the field, he started moving yesterday. He will need a few weeks to come back.”

Although Manchester City hasn’t struggled at all to win their matches without the star striker, Guardiola assured both fans and the player that he is sorely missed at the club.

“The important thing is he is negative, he is healthy again now, he can come back. Of course, it’s important to have him back.”

Despite not knowing exactly when Aguero will be able to return, Pep’s comments also reveal a piece of important information. If the Argentinian is expected to be sidelined for weeks, this means he’ll be out for a few important clashes. In fact, Manchester City will Liverpool and Tottenham this month.
