The Sky Blues have been one of the worst-affected clubs by the widespread disease, and their situation isn’t getting any better.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has announced that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

Aguero, who has featured sparingly this season due to fitness issues, had already been self-isolation following coming in close contact of another confirmed case.

The 32-year-old confirmed on Thursday in a Twitter post that he continues to act as per the health protocols.

He tweeted: “After a close contact, I’ve been self-isolating and the latest test I took was positive for Covid-19. I had some symptoms and I’m following doctor’s orders for recovery. Take care, everyone!”

The coronavirus diagnosis is another setback for the Argentina international who has already missed the majority of Man City’s matches this season due to injuries.

Having undergoing knee surgery in June, he missed the start of the season and then picked up a hamstring issue in October, and has been limited to just starts in total in 2020-21.

Aguero is the ninth player in the Manchester City squad to be infected by the deadly virus after Eric GarciaGabriel Jesus, and Kyle Walker, and others.
