Jack Grealish had a great season with Aston Villa, ensuring their Premier League safety but still cannot make it to the England team.

Gareth Southgate announced his Three Lions squad to take on Iceland and Denmark. The tactician included Harry Maguire and found space for Kalvin Phillips. However, there was no room for Jack Grealish.

Grealish has been looking at the England setup from the outside. He played for Ireland’s youth setup and only switched allegiances to England at the U21 level.

The Aston Villa captain is desperate for the call-up and his frustrations are increasing with every missed international match date. He has subtly let his disappointment known.

He liked a Sky Bet tweet that compared the different attitude towards him and Phillips. Last year Grealish was told he did not have Premier League experience but now Southgate has called up Championship star Philips for England duty.

“Last year Southgate said that Jack Grealish must gain more Premier League experience to earn a call-up,” the Tweet read.

“19/20 stats: Grealish: 36 PL appearances. 8 goals. 6 assists. 9 MOTMS. Phillips: 0 PL appearances.”

The 24-year-old has since unliked the tweet but the message he wanted to send out must have been received. If the circumstances do not change, the Birmingham native has the possibility of lining up for Ireland.

Grealish’s future is uncertain at Villa Park. Manchester United have been linked with his services and he is eager to make the step up.
