The Blaugrana have won just six of their 16 La Liga games this season after dropping more points at Osasuna.

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique admits the club’s need for victories in La Liga has become ‘really urgent’.

Xavi Hernandez’s side surrendered the lead twice on Sunday to draw 2-2 at Osasuna. The stalemate leaves them five points behind fourth-placed Atletico Madrid, who lost 2-0 to city rivals Real Madrid on the same day.

Therefore, as things stand, Barca are at risk of not qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

What did Pique say?

“It’s a shame,” the 34-year-old defender told Movistar.

“I think we played well, and we competed at a very difficult ground. Their game is based on set pieces. In the end, it came to a loose ball at the edge of the box.

“It’s a shame because I think it was a good game, when you consider where we came from. We leave with one point, unhappy with the result. We have to take three from each game.”

Barcelona return to La Liga action next Saturday at home to Elche, after a friendly with Boca Juniors in the Maradona Cup this Tuesday.

Pique added: “The objective now is to think about the next game, only in the short term. We know that in the long run, these youngsters are going to be very good for the club. But we have to get results. Win and win again. It’s really urgent. We’re in a critical situation.”

Xavi also expressed his disappointment with the draw at Osasuna and admitted Barcelona cannot rely on their young players all the time.
