Barcelona suffered another underwhelming result as they were not able to defend their lead at El Sadar Stadium.

Osasuna held Barcelona to a 2-2 draw in their La Liga game on Sunday. The Catalans were close to winning the game but lost their lead to a late stunner.

A week to forget for Barcelona!

Barcelona came into the match on the back of a 3-0 defeat against Bayern Munich. Following their elimination from the Champions League, Barcelona looked to bounce back from the defeat against Osasuna.

The Catalans started the game as the dominant side. Nico Gonzalez converted an inch-perfect cross from Gavi to open the scoring for Barcelona only 12 minutes into the game. However, Osasuna equalized the match through David Garcia’s strike only two minutes later.

The second half started in the same fashion. Barcelona controlled the game by dominating the possession, and once again, they got an early goal. After a brilliant piece of buildup play, Ousmane Dembele crossed the ball to the near post, which was half-cleared by Unai Garcia. The rebound found Abde Ezzalzouli, who smashed the ball into the roof of the net to make it 2-1 for Barcelona.

Osasuna pushed hard to get their second equalizer, while Barcelona managed to keep them at bay for most of the game. However, the hosts finally got what they wanted in the 86th minute. Following a blocked shot from Jon Moncayola, Ezequiel Avila fired an unstoppable shot into the bottom-left corner of the net.

The goal was enough to take the victory away from Barcelona as they continued their three-game winless run. Barca remain in eighth place on the table for now. However, their situation might change after the rest of the teams play their games. Xavi Hernandez’s side will face Boca Juniors in the Maradona Cup on Tuesday.
