Bayern Munich sent Barcelona to the Europa League with an easy win at Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich defeated Barcelona with a 3-0 result in their Champions League game on Wednesday. The Bavarians dominated the game, relegating Barca to the second-tier competition for the first time since 2003.

Another night to forget for Barcelona!

Bayern Munich were already qualified as the group winners before the game. The Bavarians played without the regular pair of Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka in their midfield. However, they dominated the midfield battles from early on, thanks to a fine performance from Jamal Musiala and Corentin Tolisso.

The Bavarians gained possession as soon as Barca lost their initial rhythm. Thomas Muller opened the scoring with a header in the 34th minute. The German midfielder converted Robert Lewandowski’s cross as he scored his seventh goal in eight matches against Barcelona.

The Bavarians continued to attack throughout the first half as they gave Barcelona little room to make any opportunities. Two minutes before the interval, Leroy Sane scored a spectacular goal to double Bayern’s lead.

Bayern Coach Julian Nagelsmann made several changes to his lineup in the second half. The Bavarians slowed the tempo of the game down but still managed to score another one.

Following an impressive run from Alfonso Davies, Jamal Musiala scored the third one for Bayern just after the hour-mark. Bayern controlled the game after the goal as Barca continued to struggle in making chances for their forwards. The German giants had the chance to score their fourth goal in the extra time, but Sane missed a one-on-one situation against Marc Andre ter Stegen.

Bayern qualified as the Group E leaders, while Benfica finished behind them after a 2-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv. Barcelona qualified for the Europa League, and Dynamo Kyiv crashed out of the competition after finishing fourth.

Bayern Munich will continue their Bundesliga campaign with a game against Mainz on Saturday. On the other hand, Barcelona will have to face Osasuna in a La Liga game on the same day.
