The Wales international will be available for a free transfer when his Real Madrid contract expires at the end of June.

Gareth Bale’s agent has offered the player to Madrid-based side Getafe, according to the club’s president Angel Torres.

The 32-year-old winger is on the lookout for a new club after ending a nine-year spell at Real Madrid. He will be available as a free agent when the transfer window reopens in July. Reports have linked him with several teams, including Championship side Cardiff City.

But it appears Bale has not ruled out staying in Spain either, with Torres receiving a surprise approach from the player’s agent, Jonathan Barnett.

“I spoke with the player’s agent this morning,” the Getafe chief said at the club’s new kit launch on Wednesday.

“He has been offered to us. We will consider it. I am going to have to speak to the technical staff.”

Whichever club he joins, Bale is expected to take a huge pay cut from the bumper pay package he enjoyed at Real Madrid.

The former Tottenham and Southampton star is keen to stay fit after helping Wales qualify for this winter’s 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
