Even the legendary former Red Devils manager was left dumbfounded by Solskjaer’s decision to bench Ronaldo in the draw with Everton.

Video footage has emerged showing Sir Alex Ferguson seemingly criticizing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s decision to bench Cristiano Ronaldo at the weekend.

Just days after scoring an injury-time winner against Villarreal in the Champions League, Ronaldo was put in unfamiliar territory last Saturday when Solskjaer benched him for a Premier League clash with Everton.

The Manchester United boss’ call left fans aghast. Most of them couldn’t believe their own eyes. When Everton held the Red Devils to a 1-1 draw, that shock became fury. Since then, calls for Solskjaer to be sacked have grown and the hashtag ‘#OleOut’ has been trending on social media.

But it turns out fans weren’t the only ones baffled by Solskjaer, as Sir Alex rightfully puts: ‘You should always start with your best players.’

Midway in a chat with Khabib Nurmagomedov, a friend of Ronaldo’s, Ferguson told the mixed martial arts superstar: “I also think that when they saw Ronaldo wasn’t playing…”

After Nurmagomedov reminded him that Ronaldo came on as a second-half substitute, Ferguson interjected: “I know, but you should always start with your best players.”
