It’s time to address the elephant in the room and reveal the reason Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s job hangs from a thread at Manchester United.

It’s official, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s job at Manchester United is hanging from a thread and there is very little he can do about it. When he first took over the squad, the Norwegian manager arrived as a man from the club who knew how it all works. He made slow but steady improvement over the last three seasons but this year was different. After finishing the Premier League in second place and losing the Europa League final, Ole was on his way to the top. However, the gaffer doesn’t seem prepared to take on the massive work that entails taking a world-class roster to win titles.

With Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, and Raphael Varane’s arrivals, one would think United could compete for trophies. But Solskjaer’s poor decisions were detrimental to the club’s intentions at the start of a new season. The Red Devils were already eliminated from the Carabao Cup and they are not doing well in the other two tournaments. Last week’s victory against Villarreal was mostly good fortune rather than their own skills. Also, they are lucky to have Cristiano Ronaldo on their side. But last week’s result against Everton leaves the Red Devils in fourth place, two points behind Chelsea.

The Glazers are thinking about Solskjaer’s future.

Although it’s still early in the season, there are reports that suggest the Glazer family is starting to distrust Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The latest results in all three competitions confirm that the Norwegian manager might not be qualified to lead an elite squad. If the upcoming match at King Power Stadium gets them a defeat, they might start looking for a new replacement. But Ole is confident he can turn things around after the international break.

After all, the squad is still within reach of titles this early in the season. Ole does need to work hard on recovering players like Jadon Sancho and he is getting Marcus Rashford back from injury after the break. But not meeting the standards is what has the gaffer in this problem, he needs results ASAP. Cristiano Ronaldo won’t be there to save his job during difficult times in the season every time he needs the star. Should Solskjaer get sacked, who would you pick as his successor?
