Manchester United fans didn’t hold back their frustration at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s latest changes to the line-up for the match against Everton.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba are on the bench, Anthony Martial starts ahead of Jadon Sancho on the left, and Jesse Lingard and Donny van de Beek fail to start again.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has certainly made bold choices in the past, but no Manchester United fan would’ve predicted this line-up.

The Red Devils boss knows his side haven’t really played well since a 5-1 win over Leeds in August. That in mind, along with Everton’s injury problems, probably convinced him to shake things up.

Whatever his thinking was, though, United fans weren’t impressed – especially with the Ronaldo and Pogba decisions – and quickly voiced their frustration on Twitter just before kick-off.

What did the fans say?

Solskjaer defends his line-up

Speaking briefly before kick-off, Solskjaer backed his chosen starters and insisted he needs to rotate his squad.

“They know they are good players, they know they are going to be very important for us,” said the Manchester United manager.

“If we are to be successful this season we need to rotate, manage the minutes, we need to make sure we are a big squad and we are together.”
