After his Villarreal heorics, Cristiano Ronaldo is on the bench as Manchester United welcome Everton to Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has dropped Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba to the bench for the clash with Everton in the Premier League.

Edinson Cavani replaces Ronaldo in the attack for his first start of the season. The Uruguayan has made two encouraging cameos from the bench since his return from injury. Solskjaer hinted he could partner CR7 upfront, but the Red Devils boss has decided to start as a lone forward instead.

It’s a bold move to rest Ronaldo from Solskjaer, who probably plans to use the Portuguese for a late goal instead.

The predictable, yet underwhelming, Fred-Scott McTominay partnership survives another game, while Anthony Martial gets a surprise start on the left flank.

On the bright side, Luke Shaw returns to the lineup after missing the Champions League win over Villarreal. Harry Maguire and Amad are not due to return until after the international break.

The clash in Manchester begins at 13:30 (CEST) on Saturday afternoon.
