Atletico Madrid’s star attackers are all fit and ready – so will Simeone unleash his new attacking trident for Tuesday’s big showdown in La Liga?

Diego Simeone believes Joao Felix, Diego Costa, and Luis Suarez are not ready to start in a new-look attacking trident for Atletico Madrid yet.

Felix’s quick recovery from a rib injury, which forced him off in last weekend’s game against Elche, sparked rumors Simeone could finally unleash his trident after the Portuguese resumed normal training.

Seeing Suarez bag a brace, along with Costa also scoring on his return from injury, in the 3-1 win over Elche stirred hope of the untapped potential that may lie within Simeone’s grasp with Felix in the mix.

But the Atletico coach hasn’t allowed temptation to get the better of him ahead of the trip to third-place Real Sociedad in La Liga.

“I think that they aren’t yet ready to start, but we can finish games with them,” said Simeone in his pre-match conference as quoted by Marca.

“The Celta Vigo match [when Costa got his muscle injury] is a reference; it’s a shame that Diego was injured.

“You have to be patient and exploit the best of each of the players we have, the important thing is to ensure when we put them on the pitch, they are well.”
