During an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, a Juventus legend revealed he thinks Cristiano Ronaldo won’t continue playing for the club.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is completely in the air right now after Juventus got eliminated for the third consecutive season in the Champions League. The Portuguese star has been heavily criticized for not getting his teammates to the promised land. Despite getting a hefty payday and many great partners on the team, Ronaldo simply lacked the fortune to win this title. After three failed attempts, there are rumors about his possible exit from the club. One of the people who is convinced Cristiano is leaving this summer is Salvatore Schillaci.
Known as ‘Toto’, the Italian striker was very prominent during the ‘80s and ‘90s decades. He played at Juventus for three seasons and earned a lot of respect amongst his peers. ‘Toto’ recently offered an interview in which he revealed that Ronaldo won’t finish his contract at Juventus. There are too many great offers surrounding him that can be more attractive at this stage of his career.
‘Toto’ thinks Ronaldo will leave this summer.
Even though Cristiano Ronaldo still has a year left in his contract, Juventus still wants to get some money from his transfer. Selling him right now means they can still negotiate for at least €30 million if another club comes to get him. The player already stated he intends to play at the highest level for at least another four seasons. For Schillaci, those last years won’t take place at Juventus. This is what he told Gazzetta dello Sport: “I don’t know if the club will offer him a contract extension. What I think will happen is that Ronaldo won’t take long to find a new club.
“All the criticism he got after the Champions League was excessive, we are talking about the best forward in the world. He can have one bad game every now and then. Perhaps Juve underestimated the rivals. I believe Cristiano will give everything for himself and for the club from now until the end of the season. He will prove that Porto was only a setback. I think Inter will win the Scudetto this year. Juve will finish second and they will fight until the end. It wasn’t an easy campaign for the Bianconeri.”
