Thibaut Courtois’ father was not impressed by Eden Hazard’s attitude in wake of a disappointing Champions League defeat.

Thierry Courtois has branded Eden Hazard’s behavior as ‘unprofessional’ and ‘not smart’ after the Belgian was seen laughing with Chelsea players following Real Madrid’s Champions League defeat.

Hazard returned to Stamford Bridge for the first time since his €100m move to Real Madrid in 2019, but couldn’t save his current club from suffering a semi-final exit at the hands of his former employers.

After finishing 1-1 in the first leg, Chelsea won 2-0 on Wednesday’s second leg to seal Real Madrid’s fate.

The defeat, however, didn’t appear to disappoint Hazard too much. The 30-year-old got involved in a post-match chat with his former Chelsea teammates and appeared in good spirits.

“It’s really not smart for Eden to do that,” Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois’ father, Thierry, told the HLN Sportcast podcast.

“He probably didn’t think twice about it, but those images are painful for Real Madrid fans.

“If you see a player laughing two minutes after being eliminated, I’d say it was unprofessional.”

Hazard, though, has issued an apology on social media for his actions following the strong backlash.

The former Blues star will hope to make amends in Real Madrid’s La Liga clash with title rivals Sevilla on Sunday at home.
