Antonio Conte has had a lot of success in domestic competitions with Chelsea and Juventus but his luck runs out in continental cup competitions.
Inter Milan struck gold when they prized away Antonio Conte from AS Roma’s clutches. The former Juventus man was in demand and the Nerazzurri gave him a better project to lead.
Conte has not looked back since and transformed Inter into Serie A contenders. They lost out the Scudetto by a point but will be edging to improve that in Europa League.
They take on the challenge of perennial Europa League winners, Sevilla in the final extravaganza. Conte has won European competitions as a player but his stats from the dugout are underwhelming.
The Lecce native want to improve on that and has thrown the gauntlet for his squad to follow. He echoed Diego Godin’s sentiments and asked his players to write history by winning the competition.
“As a player, I played a lot of them,” Football Italia quoted Conte at a press conference. “I have won but I have also lost a lot.
“People only remember when you win. I have won a Champions League, but I have lost three. In history, only the first one remains.
“We must have the enthusiasm and awareness of having made an important journey that will give us enthusiasm.
“We must be proud to have reached a Final 10 years after the last time Inter did.
“History is written by those who win, we only remember those. This is an extra push to get the most out of it.”
