The assistant coach is reportedly close to joining Bayern Munich to reunite with Thomas Tuchel.
Graham Potter has confirmed Bayern Munich and Chelsea are in negotiations over the transfer of Anthony Barry.
Bayern hired Thomas Tuchel as their new boss shortly after confirming their shock decision to dismiss Julian Nagelsmann.
In his first press conference after the move, the former Chelsea boss publicly expressed his interest in rehiring with Barry, who’s currently under contract at Stamford Bridge.
Since then, the English coach has stayed out of Chelsea’s training sessions.
“Anthony is in discussions, clubs are in discussions,” Potter said. “He’s not with us, it’s the best thing while that’s getting resolved.
“Nothing to report. I don’t know [how long it’ll take], no idea, it’s between the clubs.
“Of course I’ve spoken to him. I would like those conversations to remain private. He’s someone I respect a lot. He’s given everything for Chelsea. Fine member, great guy.”
According to reports in English media, Bayern’s first compensation offer was far below Chelsea’s expectations. However, the Bavarians have continued talks to reach an agreement with the English giants.
Barry could arrive at Allianz Arena before Bayern’s upcoming Champions League clash against Manchester City on April 11. Before that, however, Tuchel’s men will take on Borussia Dortmund in their first game after the international break this Saturday.
