Ace Football previews the Premier League match between Burnley and Tottenham, and offers the latest betting tips, odds, line-ups, and team news.
Monday night football sees Tottenham take a trip to Turf Moor for a Premier League match against a struggling Burnley.
The visitors may be level with Liverpool for the most league goals on 15, but 11th in the standings doesn’t to it justice. That disastrous three-goal collapse against West Ham last weekend will, no doubt, still be fresh on their minds.
Burnley, meanwhile, can make life difficult for their opponents in Lancashire. They’ve always proven tough to beat at home, but keeping the prolific pair of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min at bay may prove an impossible task.
Burnley Form & Stats
The Clarets earned their first point of the season in last week’s 0-0 draw away to West Brom. It ended a run of four successive defeats in the Premier League, which began back in July at home to Brighton.
Now it’s about building on that precious point as Burnley attempt to escape the relegation zone. While 18th-place at this stage is nothing to fret about yet, they must start bagging the points in sooner rather than later.
Goals have been Burnley’s biggest problem this season, with just three to their name so far. Their home form hasn’t been great of late either, having not won their last four league games at Turf Moor. And with Chelsea coming up this Saturday, they really can’t afford any more slip-ups.
Sean Dyche, who will celebrate his eighth anniversary in charge of the club this Friday, revealed plans in his pre-match conference to implement a style that would make his side ‘awkward and hard for them to get a grip on.’
Key Team Stats
- Winless in their last five league games (D1 L4).
- Winless in their last four home league games (D2 L2).
- Under 2.5 goals in five of their last six home league games.
Tottenham Form & Stats
Tottenham, on the other hand, have amassed eight points from their opening five games. Only two victories have come their way though, leaving them down in 11th-place. But three points on Monday would move them into the top-five.
All the hype from that incredible 6-1 win at Manchester United before the international break has died down, with the club recently surrendering a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with West Ham at home.
Jose Mourinho’s side did, though, return to winning ways last Thursday by cruising to a 3-0 win over LASK Linz in the Europa League.
A joint-league best of 15 goals, alongside Liverpool, and Kane and Son’s deadly partnership all looks promising. But with doubts lingering over their defensive abilities, the Spurs backline will likely be on their toes against Burnley.
Key Team Stats
- Unbeaten in their last nine games in all competitions (W7 D2).
- Won last four away games in all competitions.
- 19 goals in their last four games in all competitions.
- BTTS in eight of their 10 games in all competitions this season.

- Son Heung-min has managed seven goals and two assists in five league games.
- Harry Kane has managed five goals and seven assists in five league games.
