Initially, all media outlets in the world were confident an announcement would come in a matter of hours. But the situation just took a left turn that has been wildly unexpected for everybody around the world. As the negotiations kept going, we suddenly got a troubling report that suggests Lionel Messi might end up leaving his beloved football club. He’s been looking at the way that Laporta has failed to cut the salary cap in order to get him his new contract. Leo already agreed to cut his wage in half if you compare it to his previous contract.
More than that, he is apparently refusing to do. But more importantly, Leo is not entirely convinced that him staying will ensure him winning the titles he always wants. If he remains at FC Barcelona for the money they are willing to pay him, Messi knows that the club won’t have more money to bring better players. They will also lack the money to pay better salaries to the players who are already at the club. As of now, negotiations between the club and Leo have reached a complete halt.
