In a video captured moments ago, Leo Messi was spotted at El Pratt airport in Barcelona after his trip to Ibiza to sign his new contract.
After over a year of speculating about his future, it appears Leo Messi finally reached an agreement to sign a new contract. We can’t forget how this whole saga started during the summer of 2020. With Messi sending that burofax telling president Bartomeu that he wanted to leave. The problem was the poor treatment he was getting on the professional level despite the elevated wages he was getting. For a moment there, we all saw how Messi was starting to think his time as a Barcelona player was coming to an end.
But his actions were the perfect catalyst to make a consequential change within the club’s structure. Soon, Bartomeu was kicked out of the club, and elections were held for a new president. Messi’s image during the voting period was a prelude to Joan Laporta’s imminent victory. Both player and the new president understood each other from previous years and wanted to continue working together. But a lot needed to happen in order to convince Leo.
La Liga cooperates to keep Messi in Spain.
La Liga president Javier Tebas knew that they couldn’t afford to lose Lionel Messi. After the losses of Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo, the Spanish competition suffered a tremendous loss from every aspect. The recent income injection is meant to be used for Messi’s final contract at FC Barcelona. According to Fabrizio Romano, the player agreed on this new deal and an announcement is pending by tomorrow. We also just got video confirmation of Leo arriving in Barcelona from his trip to Ibiza.
It is only a matter of time before the Catalan club announces that their greatest player in history is staying at the club for five more years. Many of those doubters will have to hide in caves for a long time after this announcement. But the Messi haters will keep on hating. At the end of the day, we will get to see another perfect love story like we saw with Carles Puyol in Barcelona or Francesco Totti with AS Roma. Thank the heavens for that.
