Paris Saint-Germain’s new manager Mauricio Pochettino has gone into isolation after a positive test.

Just hours after giving a pre-match press conference, Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed that Mauricio Pochettino’s PCR test came out positive for Covid-19. The 48-year-old coach is reportedly asymptomatic.

The news came as a shock since the Argentinian manager delivered a press conference just four hours ago. In fact, Pochettino naturally gave his declarations with no mask on and sat very close to the club’s translator.

According to Goal, the PSG manager has gone into self-isolation and will not take part in the French club’s fixture against Angers this Saturday for Ligue 1. Instead, the squad will be managed by assistant coaches Jesus Perez and Miguel D’Agostino. Since there’s no indication of other infections at the club, PSG will still attempt to steal first place in the league from current leaders Lyon.

Paris Saint-Germain suffer a huge blow less than two weeks after the 48-year-old arrived in Paris to take over the team, previously managed by Thomas Tuchel.
