Bayern Munich faced Koln at the Allianz Arena this Saturday afternoon in the Bundesliga. We have the player ratings.

It was a very entertaining afternoon in Munich as the home side thrashed FC Koln with a large 5-1 win. The Bavarians dominated the first half, partially thanks to another brilliant performance from Leon Goretzka. In fact, the midfielder bagged three assists this afternoon, setting up Choupo-Moting and Lewandowski before the break.

In Bayern’s second goal, all Lewandowski really had to do was score a tap-in, since Goretzka took care of all the hard work in style. The German midfielder raised havoc in Koln’s defense and is becoming increasingly more important for the Bavarians.

FC Koln strikes back.

Despite Bayern’s promising first half, their opponents came back from the locker room looking to undo their lead. It only took three minutes for Koln to shorten the gap between the two sides. Bayern Munich’s defense looked like amateurs for a minute as no one stepped up to clear the ball. Ellyes Skhiri stepped up for the Billy Goats and flicked the ball through Neuer in a way not many have dared before. In fact, the German goalkeeper didn’t perform at his best today and his mistake out of the penalty box could’ve handed Koln the equalizer.

It was clear that Koln was close to scoring an equalizer so Hansi Flick decided to freshen up his squad. In fact, if it hadn’t been for Bayern’s changes, the final result could’ve looked a lot different. Thomas Muller only needed 10 seconds on the pitch before providing Lewandowski with an assist. The Poland international completed his brace with a first-touch strong strike.

The match’s final result was set by Serge Gnabry in less than five minutes. The German midfielder came on to the pitch in the second half and scored a brace with the help of Hernandez and none other than Leon Goretzka. Gnabry now has seven goals and two assists in 19 appearances for Bayern this season.

With this result, Flick’s team increased the point-gap between them and RB Leipzig, who will attempt to continue their winning spell against Borussia Monchengladbach.
