Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu paid a tribute to Luis Suarez, who will leave the club after spending six years at Camp Nou.

Luis Suarez’s days in Barcelona are over, as he is on the verge of completing his move to Atletico Madrid.

The Uruguayan striker spent six glorious years at Camp Nou, winning four La Liga titles, four Copa del Rey trophies, and the Champions League, as a part of Barca’s historic treble in 2015.

He made a total of 283 appearances and scored 198 goals, placing himself in third on the club’s all-time goalscoring table.

Barcelona’s current president Josep Maria Bartomeu paid his tribute to Suarez, promising to organize a special testimonial game for the forward, once the fans are allowed to return to the stands.

“I’d like to put on a testimonial when we can have fans back again so that you can say goodbye,” Bartomeu said via Marca.

“I want to say how much you have brought us, in terms of your character, fighting spirit, and winning mentality. On behalf of all Barcelona fans, I want to thank you for the last six years.

“They have been unforgettable times, and I hope that when you leave here you continue to be happy in your personal and professional life Barcelona will always be your home.”
