This whole situation between Luis Suarez and FC Barcelona could end terribly for the club, they might regret selling him to Atletico Madrid.

FC Barcelona doesn’t seem to learn from their mistakes, Luis Suarez has been announced as an Atletico Madrid player. The Uruguay international has been one of the most important figures in the club’s recent history. In fact, he ranks third amongst the all-time top scorers at the Catalan club. With 198 goals, 109 assists, and 13 trophies won in six seasons.

That’s a record that any other player would love to have at FC Barcelona. Luis even scored goals at a faster pace than Lionel Messi’s first six years at Barcelona. The manner in which the club’s board got rid of the player is what has everybody outraged.

During the early hours on Wednesday, cameras caught Suarez leaving Ciutat Esportiva in tears. He clearly bid farewell to all his teammates and he obviously doesn’t leave like the legend that he is. A new chapter within the dark pages in Barcelona’s history was written this week and it could return to bite the club in the ass.

Another David Villa case.

This farewell to a legend is very similar to the time when David Villa decided to leave FC Barcelona. The 2013/14 season was about to begin and ‘Guaje’ still felt like he could give another great year at the highest level. Barcelona didn’t see eye to eye with him and decided to sell him for spare money. Atletico Madrid quickly saw the opportunity and they took it.

The result? Villa eliminated Barcelona in the Champions League that season and won La Liga for Atletico Madrid. The parallels with Suarez are impossible to ignore and the club’s board keeps ignoring the signs. Despite having physical problems as of late, there is always the possibility of getting another great season from Luis.

Barcelona risks giving the Colchoneros another shot at all the titles by allowing their star striker to play for them. ‘Cholo’ Simeone’s mouth waters at the idea of what he can accomplish with Suarez at the helm of his attack. It’s Groundhog Day at FC Barcelona all over again.
