Despite it being almost four years since they last worked together, Dembele still holds Tuchel in very high regard.

Ousmane Dembele has described Thomas Tuchel as his ‘favorite coach’ and believes he would not have left Borussia Dortmund had the German stayed as the manager.

Dembele played under Tuchel during the 2016/17 campaign. He supplied 10 goals and 22 assists in 50 appearances, which prompted Barcelona to spend €105m, plus add-ons, to sign him in 2017.

Amid rumors of a divided dressing room, however, Dortmund sacked Tuchel.

But had the German giants stuck by the now-Chelsea manager, Dembele may never have left Signal Iduna Park.

“If he had stayed, it would have been very difficult to leave Dortmund,” the Frenchman told BeIN Sports.

“I would probably not have done it.

“Thomas Tuchel is my favorite coach. Under him, I played more on the right side before I was transferred to ten or in the middle.”

Despite a tough start, Dembele has improved under Ronald Koeman this season and is feeling upbeat about his Barcelona future.
