Ahead of Tuesday’s Euro 2020 match between England and Germany, the Three Lions just got heavily criticized by Michael Ballack.

Even though we get Michael Ballack is German and he roots against England for obvious reasons, what he just said is uncalled for. This goes very much in line with the utter distrust and disrespect that the Three Lions keep getting discarded as a title contender. Anyone who criticizes them tends to overlook their recent World Cup run back in 2018.

In this case, Michael Ballack said some hurtful things about the England National Team. If Gareth Southgate took notes of these words, he would be wise to use it in order to motivate his players for tomorrow. Germany meet the Three Lions at Wembley on Tuesday for the Euro 2020’s Round of 16. Perhaps Ballack meant to motivate his own national team with what he said, but he maybe could’ve chosen a different type of speech.

Ballack disses England ahead of tomorrow.

During an interview on Bild, this is what Ballack said: “Despite the poor performance against Hungary, I am convinced that we will win against England. England have a top team and they have high standards for themselves because of the exceptional squad. Still, I don’t see us at a disadvantage. The performances shown by the English did not convince me. Your great strength: You haven’t conceded a goal yet. But there wasn’t much going forward. I see the central midfield as a weak point, England does not have the culture and dominance that we do to dominate an opponent from midfield.

“That was also the key to success for us against Portugal. I think the back three against England is a good option. This strengthens the midfield and creates an advantage in that area, which in the end could mean more possession for us. The English don’t like to chase after the ball for a long time after the many games in the Premier League. It is important that we are dominant in the central midfield. Goretzka goes well with Toni Kroos. I think you need different types in midfield. He has a certain robustness, which is also in demand against England. The momentum with his goal against Hungary speaks for him. The English don’t really like playing against Germany. And such statistics can ultimately play a decisive role in the subconscious. “
