While Die Mannschaft managed to survive the fabled ‘group of death’, they were able to get only a single victory.

Jurgen Klopp is optimistic about Germany’s chances of making it to the Euro 2020 quarter-finals saying “it would be crazy to write off” his nation against England.

Germany kicked off their Euro campaign on a low note as they were beaten by France in their opening Group F fixture. A sole goal separated the two sides at the end of action at Allianz Arena, with Mats Hummels the scorer of an unfortunate own goal.

Joachim Low’s men were in sparkling form against Portugal in the subsequent outing, claiming a convincing 4-2 victory against the defending champions, but their form once again dropped in their final group stage game.

Trailing for the majority of the match, they risked an embarrassing elimination but got a late goal to save their blushes.

The Germans now have the Three Lions blocking their way to the last eight of the tournament.

Quizzed on Germany’s chances of beating England, Liverpool boss Klopp told BILD: “To write off Germany now, it would be crazy.

“We played well against France, Portugal we dominated like hardly any other opponent in recent years.

“We struggled against Hungary, yes. But nothing more happened. Sometimes as a team you need such a game.

“And now we’re going to make a real go of it on Tuesday.”
