Real Madrid star Toni Kroos has opened up on his chat with his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo from last weekend’s Euro 2020 showdown.

Toni Kroos was happy to see Cristiano Ronaldo again and revealed he asked his former Real Madrid teammate about life in Italy and wished him luck for the rest of Euro 2020.

Kroos and Ronaldo met on the pitch for the first time since the latter left Real Madrid for Juventus in 2018 in a Euro 2020 match between Germany and Portugal on Saturday, which the former won 4-2.

The two stars, who played alongside each other in Spain for four years, then had a chat once the match had finished.

“I played with Ronaldo for four seasons,” Kroos said on the Einfach mal Luppen podcast.

“And I am not exaggerating when I say that I had the greatest successes with him and that’s thanks to him.

“We were neighbors in the dressing room throughout that period and I was glad to see him.

“We haven’t seen each other for a long time, [Real Madrid] haven’t played against Juventus. We talked briefly about the match and the upcoming matches.

“I wish them [Portugal] the best of luck. I hope they qualify for the next round, just like us. Also, I asked how Italy suited him because he has been there for three years.”

Kroos and Ronaldo return to action on Wednesday for their respective nations in the final Group F games.

Germany have the easier of the two fixtures against Hungary, while Portugal must beat France to guarantee a last-16 spot.
