Die Mannschaft put the defending champions at sixes and sevens to turn the tie around and force their way to a much-needed victory.

Germany overpowered Portugal 4-2 in what was a powerful display of their attacking strength at Allianz Arena.

Robin Gosens was the star of the show. Running havoc down the left side of the pitch, the Atalanta wing-back had a hand in each of his side’s goals.

Gosens took it upon himself to architect his side’s comeback win after Portugal opened the scoring through Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored his third goal of the tournament at the 15-minute mark.

Ruben Dias and Raphael Guerreiro then put the ball into their own net as Germany went from trailing in the match to leading in the space of just four minutes.

Kai Havertz added a third for the hosts six minutes after the break. Gosens sent an inviting ball across the face of goal, with Haverts tapping home from close range.

Gosens finally got on the scoresheet himself, meeting Joshua Kimmich’s cross and hammering a header into the top-left corner of the net.

Fernando Santos’ men were offered a glimmer of hope when Diogo Jota got on the end of Ronaldo’s acrobatic pass and squeezed the ball into the net. However, nothing noteworthy followed.
