Ahead of Germany’s crucial round of 16 tie on Tuesday, Kai Havertz believes that England possess some of the best players in the world.
As Germany prepare to fight against their old rivals England, Kai Havertz thinks that the Three Lions have “some of the best players in the world”. Tuesday will bring the knockout match between these sides as Die Mannschaft will fly to Wembley.
Now, England are considered as one of the favourites to win Euro 2020 as they qualified without conceding a single goal in Group D. Whereas, Germany managed to finish second behind world champions France following tough fixtures in Group F.
Havertz is of the opinion that his side will have to put their best efforts to create something substantial out of the match. The Chelsea star also believes that England has a number of players of top quality having spent time in the UK.
“It’s a special game for me. I know some players, I’ve lived in London for a year. But generally, I approach the game like any other,” Havertz told a pre-match press conference.
“It’s going to be a big game for us. And we’re going to do everything we can to come out on top. They’re loaded with some of the best players in the world.”
“Of course they still have some room for improvement, but offensively they have great individual quality. On the other hand, I think it will be a duel of equals.”
“We are all very excited and focused on the game.”
Furthermore, Havertz was questioned if England will have an upper hand due to Premier League experience. The striker said: “It’s not an advantage.”
“We have many players in the squad who have already played big games. A few players can assess the level and the toughness of the opponent.”
