Form & fitness issues on top of off-field controversies saw the Welshman’s relationship with the Madridistas progressively deteriorate.

Gareth Bale “still loves” Real Madrid and is open to making a return to the club, asserts the player’s representative Jonathan Barnett.

Bale’s future remains a subject of debate, with the veteran forward halfway through his season-long loan at Tottenham and having made no impact at all so far.

The summer switch was expected to pave the way for him to revitalize his career after the 31-year-old suffered a significant downfall in the last couple of seasons.

It remains to be seen whether he has a future at Santiago Bernabeu or would be able to regain the trust of Zinedine Zidane or repair his relationship with the Real Madrid faithful.

“He still loves Madrid,” Barnett told Goal. “He hasn’t problems with the club, it’s a wonderful club. It wouldn’t be a problem [for him to return].

“They just have to decide if they need him back, if he can play for Madrid and all these things. I guess you have to ask Mr. Zidane if he wants him, I don’t think so.”

Bale’s agent added on his relationship with Jose Mourinho: “They have a good relationship, there is no problem. It’s journalists who create the problem, but there is no problem.

“We expected him to play more; things haven’t gone that well, but the team haven’t gone [as] good as well.”
