Ray Parlour believes Gareth Bale returning to Tottenham will be a better signing than Thiago Alcantara to Liverpool.

Gareth Bale has completed a season-long deal from Real Madrid to Tottenham. The Welshman completed his medicals yesterday and only am official announcement is left to make it a done deal.

The same could be said for Thiago Alcantara who is all set to join Liverpool. Having bid farewell to Bayern on Friday morning, the Spaniard is now set for a new career path at Anfield.

Both deals could be classed as ‘good’ deals on their own although there is a debate on which side is making the better signing.

Based on the current form, Liverpool look to be getting more from Thiago but Arsenal legend Ray Parlour doesn’t agree.

Despite recent struggles for Bale at Real Madrid, Parlour says the Welshman will make more impact than Thiago provided he can stay injury-free.

“I think Bale can bring more to the team for Tottenham,” he said on Friday’s talkSPORT Breakfast.

“I think Liverpool are an excellent team anyway and that strengthens the midfield; they’ve got Henderson, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain.”

“They’ve got so many good players in there, but Thiago is an excellent signing.”

“But I think if you can get the best out of Bale and get him fit, I think Bale will be a better signing.”
