Aubameyang’s lack of goals cause of ‘biggest concern’ for Arteta

The Gabonese continued to fire blanks in his side’s most recent Premier League outing, and his manager is starting to get seriously worried.

Arsenal extended their woeful run in the Premier League after stumbling to a 2-1 defeat against Wolves on Sunday.

The Gunners created a number of chances but their inability to make those count ultimately cost them three points.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was particularly at fault for showing indecisiveness in front of goal as the striker had nine touches in the opposition penalty area and took five shots in total – only one of which was on target – but failed to get on the scoresheet.

It was yet another instance of Aubameyang’s alarming slump this season. He has now gone nine games in the Premier League without scoring from open play, with his last one coming on the opening day of the season in the 3-0 win over Fulham.

The 31-year-old has scored just one league goal ever since putting pen to paper on a new contract in September.

“I think we all are because the main goalscorer of the club at the moment isn’t scoring goals, so my biggest concern is how to help him more to score goals because we need his goals,” a concerned Mikel Arteta said after the loss against Wolves, via Daily Mail.

“How important Auba has been for this club in the last two years and how the goal sheet has been shared among the squad tells you his importance.

“He needs to be scoring goals if we want to be successful.”
