The Portuguese superstar has asked Man Utd to let him leave the club this summer.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has ruled out a move for Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of the next season.

Ronaldo has spent the pre-season out of Manchester United’s squad while his agent is reportedly searching for a new club.

Bayern Munich and Chelsea were the first names that emerged as Ronaldo’s possible destinations. However, after interest from both clubs cooled off, new names started to appear as the United star’s next club in media.

CR7 reportedly turned down two big-money offers from the US and Saudi Arabia. Then came reports around Atletico Madrid’s interest in bringing Ronaldo back to La Liga, which enraged their fans.

Speaking to COPE, Cerezo insisted La Roja are not planning to make a bid for Ronaldo.

“I don’t know who invented this story about Cristiano Ronaldo to Atletico Madrid,” the Atletico Madrid president said. “It’s definitely not true”.

“It’s practically impossible for him to come to Atletico de Madrid.”

Ronaldo arrived at Carrington for showdown talks over his future earlier today. According to The Telegraph, Man Utd has informed the Portuguese and his agent that he is part of United’s sporting project for the next season.

The English source claims Ronaldo is still keen to leave Old Trafford this summer. However, the Red Devils have insisted they want to keep the five-time Ballon d’Or winner for the upcoming season, with Erik ten Hag planning to use him in his squad.
