The Gunners boss has been pretty active in January so far, but he has hinted more transfer business could be made.
Mikel Arteta has revealed that ‘conversations’ are being held ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline, implying Arsenal could still make some more deals.
The 13-time English champions have been very active compared to most of their rivals in the winter transfer window. Two players in Martin Odegaard and Mat Ryan have joined on loan from Real Madrid and Brighton respectively. Mesut Ozil and Sokratis Papastathopoulos, on the other hand, left as free agents. William Saliba will spend the rest of the campaign at Nice, and Sead Kolasinac has returned to Schalke in another loan deal.
Reports, meanwhile, have linked Shkodran Mustafi with a surprise move to Liverpool. Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Reiss Nelson could also seal exits on loan. All three players have struggled for regular game time this season.
“Well, there are some conversations at the moment going on,” confirmed Arteta in a post-match conference after Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Manchester United in the Premier League.
“I spoke with all the players about their own situation because they are all aware of the minutes that they’re playing and they want to improve their situation.
“I’m willing to help them, the club is willing to help them and we will try to find a solution at the end, but I don’t know whether it will be the case or not.”
Norwich City’s Emi Buendia and Patrick van Aanholt of Crystal Palace both reportedly remain transfer targets for Arsenal.
