Uncertainty prevails over the future of the Austria international who, as things stand, will become a free agent at the end of the season.

David Alaba assertively denies he is having a dip in form due to his uncertain situation at Bayern Munich.

Alaba is out of contract in June and has been heavily linked with an exit from Bayern with interest reported from several big names in Europe, most notably Real Madrid.

Capable of playing at left-back as well as slotting in the center of defense, the versatile defender has been a reliable figure for the Bavarians for a number of years now.

However, he has not been at his absolute best lately amid speculation over his future as the 28-year-old was unable to stop his side from suffering a 3-2 Bundesliga defeat at the hands of Borussia Monchengladbach last Friday.

Quizzed whether his slip in standards is a result of his situation at Bayern, Alaba told Bild: “No, absolutely not.

“Personally, I don’t think things are going so badly for me this season and I haven’t changed my style of play compared to last year.

“I’ve said it many times: For me, the only thing that counts is another successful season with Bayern. We are still leading the table and I am sure that we will win the next games and, in the end, we will be top.”
