Ahead of Sunday’s La Liga match, Ronald Koeman gave the press a needed update about his future as FC Barcelona’s manager.
Ronald Koeman’s future is the talk of the town right now at FC Barcelona, we are all wondering if he will continue at the club or not. Thus far, he hasn’t done a bad job with the Copa del Rey as his first trophy during his first season. He is also still fighting to win La Liga this season with massive opportunities to get it. Despite all this good sensation with the Dutch manager, there are those who still doubt he should remain at the club.
Koeman addressed those naysayers earlier today ahead of FC Barcelona’s upcoming visit to Villarreal in La Liga. The Catalan club needs to win all the pending matches they have if they want to get a shot at the title. But Koeman doesn’t like distractions and he wanted to appease all the rumors about his future at the club.
Koeman isn’t even worried by now.
As per Marca, this is what Koeman said on Saturday: “The president from the first day has shown his support and confidence in me. Until the opposite happens then I’ll say the same thing. So, in principle, I see myself as the coach for next season. I have a contract as well. If that’s not the case, we’ll need to talk. It’s all about winning, for us just like for the other teams. I don’t think there’s any title rival much stronger than any other. If you don’t win then you’ll have a smaller chance of winning LaLiga.
“I think every match will have its difficult elements. This game isn’t necessarily any more difficult than any other. “It’ll be an interesting match because Villarreal play well and have quality. Fatigue doesn’t worry me too much because we have their data. Players have played a lot, but we’re recovering well. The players are always in good shape to start the matches. Sometimes there isn’t much rest, but we need to accept the kick off times. “Despite criticism they don’t change. We need to accept it and recover.”
