Ronald Koeman expressed a strong desire that Lionel Messi should stay at Barcelona but refused to give out any transfer talk.

Ronald Koeman is quite anxious regarding Messi’s future at Barcelona. Although the Netherlands boss wants the Argentine to stay at Camp Nou, he refused to reveal any transfer talks.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner currently is running through the last phase of his contract and will become a free agent in the summer.

A number of speculations have emerged for the 33-year-old’s next destination, with Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain leading the news. However, Messi has kept a poker face and continues to perform at his best for Barca.

After the veteran grabbed yet another brace against Getafe, Koeman received questions regarding Messi’s future. He told the reporters: “If I had spoken to Leo, I wouldn’t tell you.”

“The decision [to stay] is in his hands. He never lets his concentration slip. If he does, you don’t notice it in his game. We need him. He was decisive again.”

“Let’s hope he stays for many years.”
