During an interview with Betfair, Rivaldo stated he is convinced Lionel Messi already made a decision about his future for a summer surprise.
Rivaldo keeps talking about Leo Messi’s future as if he had a direct line with the star and his family. He doesn’t but he is entitled to his own opinion about the state of Barcelona. As the club’s former number ‘10’, he can say whatever he wants about his former home. Previously, he said he believes Leo will play at PSG next season. But Rivaldo seems to think his ideal place is at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola’s command.
We all dream of the day player and manager cross paths again at a different club and work their magic together. Now that there’s a real possibility, Rivaldo thinks Messi would have to be crazy not to try. The conditions for him to stay at FC Barcelona are no longer viable and Manchester City has everything to seduce him. Rivaldo thinks it’s practically a no-brainer and Leo might’ve already made the decision.
Guardiola is the key factor for Messi.
As always, Rivaldo spoke to Betfair about this chance Messi has: “Pep Guardiola has one of the best squads in Europe and Manchester City are in incredible form right now after 19 consecutive wins, jumping to a 10-point lead in the league and taking a solid step forward in Europe this week. City are a very rich club and that allows them to sign the best players in the world. For that reason, they would be a very solid destination for Lionel Messi if he leaves Barcelona.
“Mix the great moment of form they’re going through with the fact that Guardiola has already coached Messi with huge success and it’s clear that the English club would become even stronger with the Argentinian star on their ranks. In fact, with Messi, they would be the favorite to win any competition.”
