Lionel Messi could finally leave Barcelona this summer and Rivaldo believes PSG will be a good fit for the Argentine maestro.
Lionel Messi is free to talk to other clubs as he approaches the final months of his Barcelona contract, and Brazil icon Rivaldo believes that Paris Saint-Germain would be the perfect destination for the Argentine.
The Ligue 1 side are just one of the clubs interested in Messi’s services and Rivaldo sees them as a good fit.
It remains to be seen if Messi will renew his contract at Barcelona but there is a growing sense he could end his relationship with the club.
Manchester City and PSG are two of the sides that have been linked with the Argentine. From a financial perspective, they are about the two sides that can afford the 33-year-old as well and Rivaldo sees the French giants as a better fit for the Barcelona captain.
The presence of Pochettino at PSG and the possible reunion with Neymar are among the reasons Rivaldo sees PSG as the ideal fit for Messi.
“They would be a good option for him, especially as the club has an Argentine manager in Mauricio Pochettino,” Rivaldo said as quoted by Marca.
“Messi would also be reunited with his friend Neymar, so he has a few reasons to say ‘yes’ to the club if a proposal comes.
“In Ligue 1, he should shine without problems as it is a weaker league than LaLiga [Santander] and the Premier League, and it would also allow him to manage his fitness throughout the season for the big Champions League matches.”
As well as the football side of the argument, Rivaldo also made the case for PSG’s financial power as a reason for him to join.
“Financially, few clubs can pay him better than PSG,” Rivaldo added.
“So I think it would be a great option for Messi.”French football would also benefit a lot from his presence in terms of media and sponsorship.”
