The Reds boss got a kick out of watching his team put on a dominating display in front of the supporters for the first time in months.

A tiny fraction of the Liverpool supporters were permitted to re-enter Anfield for the Premier League clash against Wolves.

It had been over two-thirds of a year since the Reds faithful last watched their team up close as, owing to the coronavirus outbreak, the Anfield gates shut close after the 2019/20 Champions League last 16 second-leg match against Atletico Madrid on March 11.

Jurgen Klopp’s men had been crowned Premier League champions in the intervening period, but they had to celebrate ending the 30-year-long curse without their loyal supporters.

It was quite an experience for the fortunate 2,000 returning fans on Sunday as Liverpool put on a purposeful display to thrash Wolves 4-0.

“The game, the atmosphere, it was so nice. I had goosebumps. They started ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ – really nice. I never knew it could feel that good,” an emotional Klopp told the BBC post-match.

“This started in February and we were waiting to get normality back. Normality is good – I don’t think we appreciated it as much. It was very very touching.

“Wasn’t it a perfect night? Whatever the weather was like outside, it was sunshine inside the stadium.”
